It's almost Turkey Time!

Posted 9/15/2010 4:57pm by Brooks Miller.

Fall is just around the corner, and with it comes some of my favorite things - fresh apples, pears, and pumpkins and other squash. We also have baby piglets being born, the air finally cooling off, and lots of pickles and bacon being made.

And, it's not too early to start thinking about ordering a pastured and organically raised free range turkey for your holiday meals. This year, we started the turkeys a little bit later in hopes that they won't be quite as gigantic as they were last year.  They are growing quickly, and devouring all the grass, clover, weeds, and grasshoppers they can find.

All turkeys will be delivered FRESH, not frozen, within 7 days of Thanksgiving.  The delivery dates are as follows:

Delivery Dates and Times

Mechanicsburg - Sunday November 21  3-4 pm

Price and Payment

We are asking for a $40 downpayment to reserve your turkey.  This is so we can pay our feed bills - we are buying organically grown, nonGMO feed, as well as all natural mineral supplements to keep the birds and their pasture healthy.  The remainder of your turkey cost will be accepted at the time of delivery.
Turkeys will be $3.90/lb.  We expect the dressed turkeys to weigh between 12 and 22 pounds.

To Order

Orders will be taken starting now, by the following: through the website, at your CSA pickup, over the phone, or by mailing in an order form.  You will be given the option to request size of turkey:
Small - 10-15 pounds
Medium - 12-18 pounds
Large - 16 -24 pounds
These are approximate sizes, we will do our best to match your preference. If you are not a CSA member, we will email you to confirm delivery location.

Happy Fall!

My father took me back home, back to Greenwich Village, and he thought by taking me out of the orphanage he'd be out of the World War too. But no way - they got him anyway. He went in the Navy and then I lived on the streets.

I think Blank Generation holds up pretty well. You listen to that with headphones and there's a lot going on there with the guitars- it's the product of a lot of fighting.
